 District Achievement Goal

Ninety percent of all students will be on or above grade level in reading, math, writing, and science by the end of the 2011-2012 school year.  The achievement gap in student performance will be cut in half by the end of the 2009-2010 school year.

Littleton Public Schools is committed to increasing achievement levels for every student.

LPS students at playStudents in Littleton Public Schools continue to achieve at high levels.
  • LPS students rank in the top four of Denver metro area districts in all subjects and at all grade levels tested by the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP).
  • Seventy-five percent of LPS schools were assigned a rating of "high" or "excellent" by the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Twenty-five percent were rated "average".  No LPS schools were rated "low" or "unsatisfactory."  As a district, LPS met or exceeded 132 of 134 Adequately Yearly Progress benchmarks for a 98.5% success rate.
But, over the last few years, LPS student scores on tests like the CSAP have become flat.

We believe that our higher achieving students can do even better and that our lower achieving students are falling further behind.
Littleton Public Schools is tackling this issue aggressively.  Increasing achievement levels is a major component of the LPS Strategic Plan.  In addition, the district has made a commitment to a bold student achievement initiative called Professional Learning Communities.
