Coveritlive is for fast action blogging.  In a normal blog, you have to use the refresh button to see the latest posts if you stay at the blog you are reading.  This tool scrolls the comments as they are submitted allowing for real-time action in the blog format.

Ideas for use:
Since this tool automatically refreshes itself, use this kind of blog to post a question or topic of debate and people inside and/or outside the room can engage in a blog debate in real time. 

Considerations:
Sometimes, this can really take off on you if you have a lot of people working on the blog at the same time.  As with anything else, be sure your students have been trained on Internet Safety to assure they know how to protect their identities online.
