The Digital Divide.  A dauting obstacle that bars the passage of those who cannot afford the 21st Century technogy necessary to cross into the virtual land of information milk and honey.  It is this divide that is our age's definition of the Have's and Have Not's.  And the traditional role of education to level the playing field for every student is being carried with pride at Goddard Middle School.

Principal Amy Oaks organized a simple ceremony this week to honor the donors and volunteers of a program called "Tech For All" where Goddard Middle School students can apply to receive a refurbished computer.  Rose Keating, Director of Tech For All, has refurbished over 700 computers for needy families and has now forged a strong relationship with Goddard and Littleton Public Schools.  And on Tuesday, Rose and several of her colleagues were honored as they gave away the 60th computer for a Goddard student.

It is so impressive to see the fine leadership and committment to others that the people involved in this effort have demonstrated.  When I came to LPS, I knew of the district's reputation and our motto of being large enough to serve you but small enough to know you.  This message speaks to a personal touch and caring approach which is manifest in the Tech For All effort at Goddard.
