Morgridge Family Foundation Grant Information

Background:
The Morgridge Family Foundation Grant calls for 45 hours of professional development in the first year (ending Dec 2010) of participation. Research shows that to effectively change classroom practices, teachers must be able to learn and experience professional development through a variety of methods. With that in mind, SPED/ITS has developed the following plan to both honor the grant requirements and to provide maximum flexibility for teachers. Values we have, as reflected in this plan:
  • All training outside of the normal school day,
  • Some training is done as an individual, some as a cohort,
  • A few common events as a cohort (e.g. Orientation, Level 1, Level 2),
  • Reward “hands on” practice time, (e.g. drop ins, curriculum specialist time, CCC Day of Sharing),
  • Provide training at schools as much as possible,
  • Provide a balance of instruction on the hardware and software with classroom best practices.

Note that by April 24th, you should be proficient enough with the equipment to provide a demonstration lesson to your peers from across the Front Range. No worries! We’re all committed to your success.

So, please note there is a balance of required time, which is generally focused on “hands on” training, and self-paced sessions, which can be either face to face, or Online, or a blend. With this in mind, please add the training sessions to your calendars
